Well, even though 2005 isn't quite over, DJ Empirical still had to submit a top 10 of 2005 list to I See Sound for the staff picks section that's coming up.
here's the list:
1) Venetian Snares "Rossz Csillag Allat Született"
2) Opeth "Ghost Reveries"
3) Jason Forrest "Shamelessly Exciting"
4) Einstürzende Neubauten "Grundstück"
5) Chalk "The Hyperventilating Culture"
6) Buckethead & Friends "Enter the Chicken"
7) M.I.A. "Arular"
8) 13 & God "13 & God"
9) Köhn en de Portables "Op visite bij tante Klara"
10) Wayne Butane "Imbalanced" (replaces: Negativland "No Business")
Feel free to leave comments. There'll be a writeup (i think) when it's published; i'll post a link at that time.
[note: i replaced the #10 record. see here for the reference.]

arratik: opeth! they're like a breath of fresh air, especially now that coheed & cambria are starting to sound more and more like queens of the stone age with every album. that isn't a good thing.
m.i.a. is good
jason forrest and negativland didn't really move me that much. at least the negativland album had "piece a pie" on it. that never fails to crack me up.
haven't heard that neubauten yet, but i'm guessing that not many outside of the "supporters" have yet... (i've been meaning to subscribe to that experimental thingy they have now...)
(speaking of neubauten, have you seen the commercials that blixa did for hornbach home improvement stores in germany? they're fucking hilarious! http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2005/12/einstrzende_dea.html#trackback)
